Could you introduce yourself to our readers ? Where are you from, where you live ?
Hello. My names Jennifer, I grew up on the beaches of Western Australia and I currently live in Melbourne.
Do you remember the first picture you ever took ?
I do actually. Im not quite sure if it was the first photograph I ever shot but its my first memory of taking a photograph. I won a camera, a Kodak point and shoot, when I was 7 years old and I was so excited I asked my mum to take me to the zoo so I could use it. It was a photograph of a tiger.
Could you Describe your work and aesthetic to us ?
My photographs gravitate towards natural lit portraits and nudes
Tell us about your journey into photography ?
Well I have always recorded life, since I was very small. Things like keeping journals, making videos and taking photographs has always been a part of my life.
How much is yourself in your work ?
I’d say all of myself. And a bit more.
Who are your biggest inspirations ?
I often find its the day to day people I come across who inspire me the most. Photography wise though, I love the works of Cass Bird, Ryan McGinley and Helmut Newton.
What would be your dream location to take pictures ?
Right now its Bolivia. I’m dreaming pink flamingo’s and salt flats.
What would you do if you were not a photographer ?
Own a cocktail bar on the beach
How do you spend your downtime ?
At a cocktail bar on the beach
What makes you happy ? what makes you sad ?
I’m incredibly sensitive to other people’s feelings so when I feel other people’s sadness, that makes me sad.
Being with people I love makes me the happiest. Also sunshine makes me happy. That, and french kissing.
